Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. is the world's largest youth football and cheer organization. A non-profit corporation, the organization was founded in 1929 by Philadelphia's Joe Tomlin to give kids a positive alternative to juvenile delinquency.

Named after the legendary football coach Glenn "Pop" Warner, the organization currently serves more than 360,000 youth participants in tackle football, flag football, and cheer and dance programs. More than 37,000 coaches and over one million active parents, friends and volunteers support Pop Warner activities each year.

The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars is to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Pop Warner programs teach fundamental values, skills and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives.

As the only national youth sports organization that requires scholastic aptitude to participate, Pop Warner is committed to developing America's young people on the field and off. Each year Pop Warner continues to expand its efforts in team and activity participation, as well as visibility and outreach in the community.

Pop Warner is overseen by a board of directors and the national staff, with headquarters in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

Pop Warner has divided the country into eight regions. We are a member of Eastern Region. Each region has a volunteer Regional Director, a Vice Regional Director, a Regional Cheer and Dance Coordinator, and a Director of Scholastics.

Within each Region are local associations. The association administers all the local teams. It raises money, buys equipment, secures playing fields and competition sites, recruits coaches, and directs the overall program.

An association is characterized by specific geographic coverage. In a large city, an associations might adopt the name of the neighborhood, while in a suburb, it might use the town's name.

In each association there are teams (football) and/or squads (cheer). Most tackle football teams consist of 16-35 players and have at least one affiliated spirit squad of 15-20 cheerleaders (35 maximum).

Associations include several different divisions of play. In Mountain Valley, there are five age/weight divisions of play in tackle football and one Flag football division.

Cheer squads fall within the same age ranges as football teams. Unlike football, there are no weight requirements. Cheer squads compete at the league, regional and national levels in small and large divisions based on squad size.
